Over the years Sibuns Funeral Directors and Advisors have built a reputation of offering excellent service and genuine caring assistance to the families of Auckland. Located in Remuera, in Auckland's eastern suburbs, Sibuns is positioned in one of the city's most established residential areas.
Sibuns Funeral Directors and Advisors have been an important part of the Remuera community for many years along with our distinctive fleet of cars and hearses, including the classic Rolls Royce - a tradition started by our founder, Mr Watney Sibun.
His grandson John Sibun (centre front in the photo) continues the Watney Sibun tradition of service today. Sibuns' experienced and dedicated team are passionate about providing a professional and caring service, taking care of all the details and guiding you through the many choices to be made at what can be a difficult and stressful time.
Sibuns has a reputation for professional and caring service from its funeral directors and support staff who are passionate about going the extra mile to ensure families can have peace of mind at what can be a very stressful time. As members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ) we are pledged to uphold the highest professional standards.
Sibuns approach is what you would expect from a funeral firm that has been in Auckland for nearly a hundred years: Friendly, understanding and, above all, sincere. The services we provide demonstrate caring professionalism, and we know how to take care of the details when arranging a funeral - whether it's being held now or being pre-arranged or pre-paid for some time in the future.
Sibuns Funeral Directors and Advisors are located in a gracious turn-of-the century residence with small, personal chapel, spacious sitting rooms for families who wish to view their relatives at our place, as well as a casket display room to assist your choices.
In the weeks after the funeral is over, it can help to have someone on hand who understands what a difficult time this can be coping with grief and Sibuns can refer you to a qualified bereavement support counsellor and advisor, Chris Chisholm, to talk things through. We also offer a free book (or colourful poster for children) to help you understand the effects of grief.
Sibuns have been an important part of the Remuera community since moving here from Wellington in 1913. We are also well known for our distinctive fleet of cars and hearses, including the classic Rolls Royce – a tradition started by our founder, Mr Watney Sibun.

Mr and Mrs Watney Sibun
His grandson John Sibun, continues the Watney Sibun tradition of service today.

Mr John Sibun
Sibuns Funeral Directors and Advisors were first established in Wellington in 1899 by Mr Watney Sibun and relocated to Newmarket, Auckland, in 1913. Watney Sibun moved from Newmarket to Remuera in 1989 and purchased C.H. Barker Funeral Home in Onehunga, which was believed to have started in the early 1860's.
In 1996, the old established funeral firm of WH Tongue, originally situated at No 1 Mt Eden Road, joined with Watney Sibun and is now integrated into Sibuns in Remuera.
